Description
Like adults, children can be affected by cardiac arrest (circulatory arrest). Our Pediatric Basic Life Support (PBLS & AED) course focuses on teaching the skills necessary to provide proper assistance in this emergency situation.
Course content
This course focuses on teaching basic CPR to infants and children (up to adolescence.) The course also covers the use of the AED. In addition to the prevention of circulatory arrest, the causes and specific approach to children are discussed. Through practical exercises, we want to teach you how to act in this emergency situation and gain confidence in your own ability. Our experienced instructors are all NRR certified PBLS/AED instructors, with extensive experience as healthcare professionals . They follow the official NRR curriculum, combining theory and practical implementation step by step!
Purpose course Pediatric Basic Life Support.
After completing this course, you will be able to apply Basic Life Support – according to NRR guidelines – and use an AED.
At the end of the course, you will be able to demonstrate:
- How to approach an unconscious child.
- How to perform chest compressions and ventilations in children.
- How to use an automated external defibrillator in children.
- How to place an unconscious child with normal breathing in (stable) side position.
- How to perform back strokes and abdominal thrusts or chest compressions on a child who has choked.
Target group and level
This course is suitable for both professionals and individuals. Specific prior knowledge is not required.
Length and study load
Practical training of approximately 2.5 hours.
Optional preparatory e-learning can be used.
