Description
The two-day ENA Certified TNCC Provider, 8th Edition prepares the student with the knowledge, critical thinking and skills training necessary to provide quality nursing care to the adult trauma patient.
Course content
Every second counts when stabilizing life-threatening trauma cases. This course, taught by experienced TNCC instructors, teaches you to provide high-quality trauma care. You will learn to combine evidence-based knowledge, critical thinking and psychomotor skills within a systematic approach.
The first day focuses on: initial assessment, shock, skull & brain injury, abdominal trauma, thoracic & neck trauma and airway & ventilation. The second day focuses on skin & musculoskeletal injuries, burns and spinal trauma.
Over the two days, there are multiple Trauma Nursing Process (TNP) skill stations, with both an individual and team approach. These psychomotor skill stations allow you to practice assessing and applying interventions to trauma patients in a controlled environment. A TNP test will take place at the end of the second day.

After completing this course, you will be able to properly assess the trauma patient and implement evidence-based interventions to improve the outcome for this patient.

- Take care of the acute trauma patient.
- Adopt a systematic assessment model.
- Integrate knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology into daily practice.
- Identify and implement appropriate interventions.
Target group and level
ICU and ED nurses, Anesthesia staff, Ambulance nurses and Emergency Medical Technicians (BMH) who are (or may be) professionally involved with the care of trauma patients.
Length and study load
Preparation depends on prior education and experience.
Practical training: 2 days (16 hours).

Retake
- The TNP scenario test may be retaken immediately
- Any retake of the theory test must take place within 7 days
Certification and accreditation
Upon completion, you will receive the official ENA TNCC Provider certificate. The TNCC is the only internationally recognized trauma course for nurses and paramedics.
